Mary is a Senior Consultant at GMD Consultants. She has a background in local government corporate planning and has a broad range of experience including arts management and organisational development.
Mary’s recent work has focused on corporate planning, particularly Long Term Plan development and reporting for district and regional council clients, as well as developing standard operating procedures for Long Term Plan performance measures. She has also been involved in policy and bylaw development and review over a range of different subject matters, in particular reviewing a number of bylaws for New Plymouth District Council including Animals, Skateboards, Recreation and Cultural Facilities, and Fire and Smoke Nuisance.
Mary recently undertook a Section 17A service delivery review of the economic development activity for Palmerston North City Council and Manawatū District Council. This included conducting interviews with a range of internal and external stakeholders, and a high level analysis and comparison of the cost effectiveness and strategic fit of various options for the governance, funding and delivery of the economic development activities currently provided by the Central Economic Development Agency (CEDA).
Along with her GMD colleague, Emma Wright McHardie, Mary is currently supporting Waipā District Council with the development of their 2021-2031 Long Term Plan. This has involved input into project planning and management, strategy and policy development and review, preparation of documentation for executive team review and Council workshops, and liaising with activity managers to write Group of Activity statements.
Mary is a skilled writer and excels at strategic planning, as well as submission analysis and community consultation. She has strong project management and coordination skills.
Mary has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, a Post-Graduate Diploma in Business Administration and a Diploma in Project Management.
