Giles is an experienced planner who has worked in a range of public sector roles spanning consenting, reserves and RMA policy development. Giles started with GMD Consultants in 2019. A focus of Giles’s work to date has been assisting our local authority and iwi clients. He has provided planning advice to iwi authorities including Raukawa Charitable Trust and Waikato-Tainui on resource consents, plan changes, and appeals. He has also worked on the development of reserve management plans including for co-managed lands.

Giles came to GMD Consultants after six years as Waikato District Council's Senior Environmental Planner. He was heavily involved in a district plan review. Giles also worked as Council’s reserves planner. Giles has worked for the Department of Conservation in RMA advocacy and concessions planning roles.

Giles enjoys time with his family in the outdoors. Depending on the season he will be found up a mountain, in the surf or cheering on his sons at BMX.
