Karren is a planning consultant with a background in law, public policy, and regulatory processes. She brings experience across local government, the university research environment, and consulting.

After completing a Bachelor of Laws at the University of Waikato, Karren worked as a Policy Advisor at Federated Farmers and later at Waikato Regional Council, where she contributed to freshwater policy development and sustainable agriculture initiatives. She has also worked as an Intellectual Property Manager at the University of Waikato, supporting research commercialisation and contract development.

At GMD, Karren supports the review of Te Ture Whaimana o Te Awa o Waikato, working closely with the principal consultant to coordinate the policy team and develop the evidence base for the review. This work draws on both her planning and legal experience to help ensure the review is well-supported, clearly documented, and legally robust.

Karren enjoys helping clients work through complex policy and regulatory challenges and developing practical, well-reasoned solutions.
