Loren is a Principal Consultant with GMD Consultants. Loren is an experienced planner who has worked within local/regional government and private consultancy both in New Zealand and the United Kingdom. During her 20+ year career, Loren has gathered a wide breadth of experience including working on large scale development projects, detailed policy development, and strategic growth management projects.
Most recently, she has been part of a small policy team at Timaru District Council, developing a new District Plan, with the associated stakeholder engagement, plan development, and formal consultation. This included managing and developing numerous topic areas, including a new Māori Purpose Zone and a variety of technical chapters within the plan. She also helped navigate the necessary statutory processes.
Prior to this, Loren worked for Hamilton City Council as a Principal Planner in the Economic Growth and Urban Policy Unit. Here her work was focused on the development of regional and inter-regional growth management strategies and projects and preparing submissions on RMA plans. Loren also worked in London for 9 years, including as Principal Strategic Planner for the Greater London Authority where she managed a caseload of large-scale development projects and liaising with local planning authorities on the development of their planning policies.
Loren has an MSc in Environmental Science (Freshwater Ecology) from the University of Canterbury and a BSc (Resource and Environmental Planning) from Waikato University.
