Nichola is a Principal Consultant with GMD Consultants. Nichola joined GMD Consultants after a long period of working for Ken Tremaine Consulting on a variety of projects, particularly in the growth management and spatial planning arena.

Nichola has worked for a number of years on SmartGrowth – the western Bay of Plenty sub-region’s growth management project, and Future Proof – Hamilton, Waipa and Waikato District’s growth partnership. She has also been involved in other significant strategic projects that span spatial planning, transport, community well-being and housing.

Nichola has significant experience in strategy drafting and policy development. She also has in-depth knowledge of the key planning statutes – the Resource Management Act, the Local Government Act and the Land Transport Management Act. Nichola follows Government policy and initiatives very closely and has written numerous submissions to both Central and Local Government.

Nichola has a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts (double major in Geography and Sociology) from the University of Auckland and is an Enrolled Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand. She is a member of the Resource Management Law Association and has written articles for the Resource Management Journal and the Local Government KnowHow Guide.
